Steven Sanchez sets the one mile world record

The Broadway Bomb weekend kicked off Friday October 19th with the Blue Sky Mile Challenge. Organized by Blue Sky Longboards and Push Culture News, the bracketed tournament style race was fully sanctioned by the International Distance Skateboard Association. The race had several divisions allowing all ages to compete, the open division hosted some of the fastest skateboard push racers in the world.

Steven held his lead the final lap and blasted past the finish line.

Steven Sanchez of  Queens, New York set the new world record in the final round with a time of 3:35. The previous record was 3:46.1, held by Marc Juvinall of San Gabriel, California. The day started out with pouring rain and the 3 lap course was less than optimal but racers dealt with the adversity and prevailed. Click here for full race results.

SURE’s Adam Crigler getting set to compete for the One Mile World Record

This Friday at 4:00 pm, Liberty State Park will be the site of the Blue Sky Mile Challenge. A bracketed tournament to break the one mile skateboard push record.  Marc Juvinall of San Gabriel, California currently holds the world record with a time of 3:46.

Adam Crigler has entered the competition and will be representing SURE Skateboards, The Arbor Collective, Bern Unlimited and Uncle Funkys. Adam will be joined by several other world class pushers to battle it out for the record and a nice cash prize. The open class is stacked with contenders and a new record is almost certain to be set. Adam is an extremely fast push skater and has his eye on a top spot.

Blue Sky will also host a Women’s and Master’s division as well as a 13 & under and 14-18 Junior’s division. There’s room for all ages to compete so get registered if you’d like to give it a shot and be a part of this historical day.

Skate legends Steve Caballero & Christian Hosoi have a poolside laugh.

Pier 62 skate park was host to the Vans Bowl-A-Rama this past weekend. The Pro division was amazingly fast and technical. The crowd was also treated to the Masters division. These are the guys that laid the innovative groundwork for today’s generation. It was great to see them still ripping. Check out some of the photographs I was able to snap from their final heat.
